Date Number 1

Ok, so this was our second date, but it was numbered as one in our collection of dates! We were both pretty sick last weekend but we still wanted to do a date so we thought "this one won't be too hard and we can just stay inside". Yeah, the staying inside part was true, but the "won't be too hard" was off just a little bit. It wasn't the hardest thing we've ever done, but it was much harder (and more time consuming) than we had expected.

That being said, it was really fun and a great challenge. We didn't finish it until yesterday night (which is also when we actually started following the instructions). The instructions weren't super clear so it was still a challenge, but once we started to really analyze them they made more sense. It was awesome because we got two dates instead of one!

What awesome wrapping! Credits to Ronald Doria, I think :)

The puzzle is 1000 pieces and you have to separate the pieces you actually use, and the outside parts that were stuck on some of them. Then we poked out all the little pieces.

We started by putting as many pieces together as we could. Then we started building from the ground up. This is NOT what the instructions said to do. First you are supposed to build one side, then the others, then put the bottom on last.

I didn't get any pictures of the side structure by itself, and though it isn't quite finished in this picture, we put the bottom on anyway because it was close enough.

And final: Empire State Building. Then there was a cute little mini puzzle after the big one. We were wondering where all those pieces were going to go.

And now we finally can eat using as much table space as we want. For the last week we just scooted the pieces over a little and ate on the corner. It was fun. So these are the adventures of date number 1! (but really the second date).

  1. I forgot how much I love that cup picture of you guys! So fun to see it again with your puzzles. I've never completed a 3D puzzle... If I ever try again I'll make sure and look at the directions closely and probably enlist your help too haha. Sorry you guys were both sick. No fun. I can totally imagine you eating on a little corner of your table - haha. Thanks so much for the 'hangout' tonight! I loved it and I love you!
