Christmas Time in 2nd Grade

This last week we had a lot of fun things going on. We did maybe 10% academics, the kids were just a little bit too crazy to retain anything. The first few days we did some Christmas crafts and practiced for our performance which was on Thursday. We had our class Christmas party on Wednesday. These kids are my life right now and I absolutely love what I do. Below are some pictures of our activities, and hopefully a video of our performance if it uploads!

Made elf hats with the red class. We also had the red class party in my room, blue class party was in Mlle. Gimenez's room.

Some of my girls had a little bit too much fun with the glitter.

Christmas program, Calypso Clapping Carol.

She begged everyone to give her their coats. Including me. Couldn't resist.

I got a lot of sweet notes and presents from my students. I wasn't quite expecting it.

"to the Best! to the Greatest! Mrs. Monson" haha classic Katy.

Halloween Time, Some Big Success

Last Saturday I ran my first half marathon. It was the Halloween Half. I ran with Nicole, sort of. I didn't feel super good that day and my stomach was being weird, so I had to stop at about mile 6 to use the bathroom, then I spent the next 4 miles trying to catch up to them, then I did, but then she went fast the last 4ish. Which is good, I'm very glad she did. I just felt bad that I couldn't catch up. Here are some pictures from the race!

As always, it is so fun to see these amazing kids!

She killed it!

Me... Not so much.

This was before the race.

That same Saturday, Cody and I decided to celebrate for a couple reasons. Cody signed with Delloite, it was one day before our 6 month anniversary, we both scored goals in our soccer games... and I don't really remember the other reasons, but we justified it and got some sushi. It was really good.

This next one probably isn't quite as justified, but we were really craving pho after our Friday night temple trip date, so we decided to go for it. It was worth it. Sorry it's not the best picture!

Honeymoon in Coronodo (Yes, it was over 5 months ago)

Finally, here are some pictures of our honeymoon. Hopefully I will get better and get caught up on all of the things that have been going on for the past few months.

On our way to Coronado!

We arrived in Coronado in the later afternoon. We explored the Condo we stayed in, then decided to explore the surrounding area a little bit. The beach was usually this empty, it was really nice!

More exploring. We were walking to the grocery store and saw this really cool old beach bum car.

Way better than Jamba!

Ice cream sandwiches. They actually weren't too bad.

We rented bikes and rode around the whole island!

The grocery store was kind of far for walking and we forgot some things, so we picked a few things up before we explored some more. Making food was definitely way better (and cheaper) than eating out every day.

This is the day we went to sea world.

I ordered a chicken caesar salad and they gave me probably half a chicken, and two heads of lettuce. Lets just say Cody finished well before I did.

Cody and I took public transportation to Sea World which was less than $10. We also bought my birthday cake there for a really good deal. We got it for $15 and it was a huge cake with 8 huge slices. Each slice individually was $4.50, so we got a good deal. We also made ourselves a little bit sick, and shared some with the door guy at our Condo. I'm sorry I don't have a picture of it, maybe i'll come in and add it later! Oh I forgot to add that we ended up taking a taxi home because the public transportation was taking a long time, and we were way tired and had a huge cake to carry home, so we decided to fork out the cash and just take a taxi. It was my first taxi ride!

The sandman of Coronado wanted to wish me a happy birthday.

He was very talented.

On my birthday we decided to go out and eat. We went to a place called Migells. It was a mexican restaurant. It had this really good white queso type of sauce and apparently they had the best fish tacos in the nation. Cody had them bring me a piece of mud pie cake which we ate, then we had cake at home too. That probably wasn't our smartest idea.

We have a video of the cake and blowing out candles which I will also need to post soon.

These last few pictures are of our last evening in Coronado. The sunsets were amazing so we had to take a few pictures.

Soon there will be pictures of my classroom and just random stuff Cody and I have been up to!
